Blaze is simply the V sign the arrowhead or the Peace sign or the Look down sign  U.S. President Richard Nixon used the gesture to signal victory in the Vietnam War, an act which became one of his best-known trademarks. He also used it on his departure from public office following his resignation in 1974 The poem in the memoir is featured on chapter 22 of The Thrill of the chase What's the 22 alphabet ? The end is ever drawing nigh

Image
Highline trail is a point to point trail that begins from the Green River Lake and ends near Meeks Cabin Lake . The end is ever drawing nigh  Fenn ALWAYS draws stick figures aka single Line drawing intentionally to give us a hint ..the key word here is LINE nigh rhymes with HIGH . put it together HIGHLINE TRAIL ! Finis Mitchell used this trail to stock fish all over the wind ranges . The central theme of the poem is Trout Stocking . Finis also took over hundred thousand pictures documenting the beauty of Winds and he used to send those pictures as postcards to his friends.                                        Mitchell Peak in the Wind Range is named after Finis Mitchell Finis Mitchell stocking at Winds circa 1930's                                       ...

It's no place for the meek

Image
The geographical location is Meeks Cabin Lake right next to Mud lake Well, That's just it !

Not far but too far to walk

Image
Which means you need to get a Horse or a Mule !  because it's too far to walk and we are in the Rocky mountain . There is no long winding lake to go on a boat to home of Brown where ever that is situated .

Home of Brown

Image
The key to figure out "home of Brown" is the understanding the hidden fly fishing phrase in second stanza that's "Put & Take" Begin it where warn waters halt And  take it  in the canyon down, Not far but too far to walk. Put in  below the home of Brown.  What is Put & Take Fishing ? Definition of Term.  put-and-take  fishery. (English) The placing of hatchery-raised fish of a specific size in waters to be caught by fishermen for a payment. It is safe to assume "Brown" to be Brown trout because it's an undeniable fact that Forrest loves fly fishing and exploring the outdoors . So we are looking for home of Brown trout in the Wind river range because that's where the canyon lead us to. The Home of Brown in the Wind River Range is MUD LAKE ! It was at Mud Lake the Legend  FINIS MITCHELL  locally known as "Lord of the Winds" set up his first fishing camp in 1930. Finis transp...

Where Warm Waters Halt

Image
Green River Lake In Pinedale,Wyoming Colorado River is alluded to as "Warm  Waters" because Colorado river waters used to be RED Spanish explorers named the river "Rio Colorado" which means colored river. The river was red because of the red silt or soil and mud that it carried down from the mountains Green River becomes the major tributary of Colorado river as it forks at Canyonlands National Park,Utah . Green River Lakes halt at the northern most entrance of Wind River Range. So that's where warm waters halt. Idaho and Utah was included in the original search area but Forrest later narrowed down the search area to just four Rocky mountain states NM,CO,WY & MO The poem need to be interpreted like an Abstract art ,because Forrest was an art dealer. Abstract art uses a visual language of shape, form, color, and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. The fi...

Forrest Fenn's Cryptic Poem

The Poem As I have gone alone in there And with my treasures bold, I can keep my secret where  And hint of riches new and old. Begin it where warn waters halt And take it in the canyon down, Not far but too far to walk. Put in below the home of Brown. From there it's no place for the meek, The end is ever drawing nigh; there will be no paddle up your creek, Just heavy loads and water high. If you've been wise and found the blaze, Look quickly down, your quest to cease, But tarry scant with marvel gaze, Just take the chest and go in peace. So why is it that i must go And leave my trove for all to seek? The answer i already know, I've done it tired, and now I'm weak. So hear me all and listen good Your effort will be worth the cold. If you are brave and in the wood I give you title to the gold.
